Chris McKinney Father & Sons Passion The legacy of McKinney Renovators & Builders, LLC was started by father and son in May of 1991. Gobel McKinney, a sucessful Architect practicing in Lexington Kentucky, was building single family and multi-family housing in Northern Kentucky. Chris McKinney, his son, was attending LLC at The University Of Kentucky, a student in Architectural Technology, when he began helping his father as a draftsman, estimator and also helping with the office administrative duties. Gobel had lectured Chris on multiple occasions on the proper techniques required to construct a quality home by saying "you can not design it or draw it correctly, if you do not know how it's put toghether or understand how it goes together in the field." So Gobel took Chris out of the office and strapped a nail bag to his waist, paid him $4.75 an hour and sent Chris to "put it together". Chris, the building company superintendant and another laborer built 3 single family homes in Crittenden Kentucky that summer from ground up, basically all phases of the construction process. And so begins Chris's passion for the industry. After just one summer in the field, he would never return to the office to push a pencil again. After college, Chris left his father and went on to work for large commercial general contractors and a top 5 national home builder gaining vast amount of knowledge and experience, becoming a expert in building construction, customer service and sequencing. In 2005 Chris went to work for a local custom home builder and remodeling company as the CEO. It was in this capacity that he quickly realized--Not everyone else in the orginization had the same passion, drive and love for the industry. In 2007 Chris left his position as CEO and started; McKinney Renovators & Builders, LLC as the sole member. It was a father and sons passion for doing the job right that started in 1991 that drives McKinney Renovators & Builders today!
